My Photography

This being the first real article on my website, I feel the need to explain my ideas and views about photography. I hope that you, the readers of this website get a better insight on why I feel the way I feel on some photographic subjects.

I am an aviation photographer (I’m writing this article on a Finnair Airbus at 38000ft btw. :) ), although I’ve begun to expand my photography to other subjects, I’m by default an aviation photographer. While I’m rather keen to express my views on number of subjects through this website, I’m not a pro like Michael Reichmann and all other good pros who share their experience and views on the Internet - not yet anyway.

There generally are 3 kinds of aviation photographers. First group are those who simply collect aircraft, getting good documentary “sideshot” of every possible aircraft is that counts. Second group are those who strive for artistic shots and try the get the beauty of those awesome machines that enable humans take to the sky. Third group is somewhere in between. I find my self trying to photograph as much different aircraft as possible, so, I’m partly in the first group. I also value beautiful images of aircraft and aviation related subjects and try to make that sort of photographs as well. It really depends on the situation which ones I try to get.

Like I previously said, I’ve also tried to expand my photographic work to other subjects as well, most recently I’ve really started to like nature photography. I’m still very new to nature photography, but thanks to Mikko Ala-Kojola and Antti Karppinen, I’ve had some very nice experiences and I’m sure to pursue this further.

I’m also a petrolhead so naturally I have interest to fast, exotic, and otherwise cool cars. I’ve never seriously tried to photograph cars, but maybe sometime when opportunity presents it self…
Since someone at some point is going to ask about my camera gear…I shoot with Canon DSLR’s and Canon L-series lenses. Currently I own 17-40 f/4 L, 70-200 f/4 L, 300 f/4 L IS lenses and 1.4x II teleconverter, my current body is 30D and I’ve used 350D and 1D in the past.

I won’t mention any of the technical details of the photo in captions as I’ve left EXIF information on my photos intact. So if you’re interested on some technical information the photo, just look at the EXIF.

So there you have it, a small insight to my views about photography. This is my first article here, and there will be many more to come.
